The Minister of Sports, Borko Ristovski, together with the Mayor of Prilep, Borche Jovcheski, today officially launched the new football field with artificial grass, built according to FIFA standards.

The field is located within the framework of the “Mirche Acev” Secondary School and Gymnasium in Prilep and represents another successfully implemented project of the Ministry of Sports, aimed at improving and modernizing the sports infrastructure in the country.

-Such sports fields are needed both in Prilep and in the whole of Macedonia. Therefore, that is our intention in the Ministry of Sports, to create as many playgrounds and sports fields as possible and to attract as many children as possible to play sports, and thereby build a healthy nation. Our commitment is to invest in sports infrastructure as a basis for the development and progress of sports and in that area to contribute to the development of both school and top sports with our investments – emphasized Minister Borko Ristovski.

The Mayor of Prilep, Borche Jovcheski, expressed his gratitude for the realization of this project and emphasized that the new playground will be of great importance for the students of the high school, but also for the local sports clubs and recreationalists and for raising the sports spirit in Prilep.

During the visit to Prilep, Minister Borko Ristovski also addressed the situation with other sports facilities in this municipality and the course of the procedures for their rehabilitation, emphasizing that the Ministry of Sports will stand by what has been promised.

– In order to shorten the entire procedure regarding the reconstruction and management of the gym in Prilep, after analyzing the situation and in agreement with all parties, we have adopted a more efficient solution. Instead of the Ministry of Sports claiming the hall in Prilep, which is now under the Joint Stock Company for Construction and Management of Public and Business Space, and giving it back to the company “Comfy Angel” which is interested in using the hall, we have made a decision to skip that takeover through the ministry and from there hand over the hall to “Comfy Angel” and the Prilep Municipal Council for use. We have held talks with the director of ADISJDP, several meetings have been initiated with the company “Comfy Angel” and now they are negotiating things between them for the company “Comfy Angel” to reconstruct the hall so that it can be given to them for use for a longer period. As for the “Macedonia” hall, the contract with the current concessionaire will be terminated as soon as possible. For now, we have not yet secured a budget for reconstruction, but I hope that by the end of the year the budget will be secured and then we will terminate the contract, reconstruct the hall and return it to the Municipality of Prilep for use. The contract for the sports complex “Markovi Kuli” has expired and we will take it under the management of the Ministry of Sports. The idea for this sports complex is to find an investor who is interested and to give it to use according to the principle of public-private partnership – explained Ristovski.

He emphasized that the Ministry of Sports continues with the implementation of investments in sports infrastructure throughout the country in order to create modern and accessible sports facilities for all citizens.

In the past period, with the investment of the Ministry of Sports, 12 football, basketball and multifunctional playgrounds have been built and reconstructed in several municipalities.
