Minister Borko Ristovski welcomed the participants of this major athletics event.
Minister of Sports Borko Ristovski, together with the President of the European Athletics Association, Dobromir Karamarinov, and the President of the Athletics Federation of Macedonia, Aleksandra Vojneska-Zikova, today attended the press conference on the occasion of the Convention of the European Athletics Association, which will be held for the first time in Skopje, from 24 to 27 October. As part of this major athletics event, the prestigious event “Golden Tracks Skopje 2024” will also be held – a selection of the best in athletics in Europe.
– The organization of this event is a great recognition for Macedonia and means a great promotion of Macedonian athletics. Sports diplomacy plays a key role in strengthening international ties and cooperation, not only in sports, but also beyond. This Convention and the presence of the distinguished guests from the World and European Athletics Associations allows us to have long-term cooperation and present our country in this sport, which I am particularly proud of – emphasized Minister Ristovski.
The Convention of the European Athletics Association in Skopje will be attended by more than 300 distinguished personalities, representatives of 51 federations from all over Europe, including presidents of national athletics federations, whose ranks include many famous names in athletics.
A special guest at the Convention in Skopje will be Lord Sebastian Coe, President of the World Athletics Association and former member of the British Parliament, holder of Olympic, world and European gold medals, member of the board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and since a week ago officially one of the candidates for the new IOC President in the upcoming elections in March next year.
