Minister of Sports Borko Ristovski presented the medals to the most successful at today’s jubilee 20th edition of the Skopje Marathon, congratulating all participants in the marathon for their endurance and dedication. The Ministry of Sports is the main sponsor of this largest athletic event in our country.
– The Skopje Marathon this year has shown that Macedonia is ready to organize sports events of world scale. I am proud that the Ministry of Sports is the main sponsor of this athletic event that puts Skopje and Macedonia on the world marathon map. We, as the Ministry of Sports, will always support such events that foster true sports values, build tradition and promote our Macedonia in the world – emphasized Minister Ristovski.
He congratulated all participants in the marathon as well as the organizers and everyone who contributed to today’s race going smoothly, emphasizing that the Skopje Marathon is one of the most significant sports events that fosters tradition and promotes true sports values.

You are a true inspiration and example that through sport, not only a healthy body is built, but also a community united in support of common goals. Congratulations and gratitude to the organizers, volunteers and everyone who helped in the realization of this great sporting event. This is another victory for sports in Macedonia, and I hope that we will continue to create such opportunities for our athletes and the community. A record 13,400 competitors from 55 countries took part in this year’s Wizz Air Skopje Marathon. The winner of this year’s race is Hilary Chemwono from Kenya. His compatriot, Daniel Kiprotich, won second place, and third place went to the best Macedonian athlete, Dario Ivanovski.
The women’s competition was dominated by Kenyan Irene Jeruto. The best Macedonian marathoner, Adriana Pop Arsova, finished in second place, and Vivian Dzhelagat from Kenya in third.
The half-marathon race was dominated by competitors from Turkey. Can Husein was the first to cross the finish line, Emektar Murat took second place, and Gediklioglu Abdurahman was third. The best Macedonian competitor in the half-marathon race was Ivan Pesovski, who finished in sixth place.
In the women’s competition, the half-marathon race was won by Milica Mircheva from Bulgaria. Gresha Bakrachi from Albania was second, and Julie Larsen from Norway took third place.
